Yaz Yasmin Lawsuit Update

Yaz, Yasmin or Ocella (drospirenone) is a contraceptive tablet that has been FDA approved to prevent pregnancy; to treat endometriosis; to treat perimenopause (by regularizing menstruation, helping to reduce mood swings and hot flashes, and by reducing other perimenopausal symptoms); and to treat premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), a severe form of premenstrual syndrome (PMS).

Yaz, Yasmin and Ocella have not been recalled by the FDA, but they may cause severe, potentially life threatening side effects, which require immediate medical treatment, such as the following:

  • Blood clots
  • Breast lumps
  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
  • Gallbladder disease
  • Heart attack
  • Hyperkalemia
  • Kidney disease
  • Liver damage
  • Pulmonary embolism (PE)
  • Stroke

If you believe that you suffered a Yaz related injury, you should immediately seek medical care and be sure to follow through with all treatment.

You should also file an adverse event form with the FDA and consult with an expert pharmaceutical lawyer to evaluate your potential claim.
